喉頭軟骨肉腫症例

CHONDROSARCOMA OF THE LARYNX

　I．はじめに

　喉頭に発生する真性の良性腫瘍そのものが比較的少なく，軟骨腫はその中でも稀なもので，最近の外国文献によれば世界の報告例が約130例とされている。軟骨肉腫になるとさらに少なく，1949年のLink^2）の第1例より約40例の報告をみるに過ぎない。わが国では喉頭軟骨腫が6例報告されているが未だ軟骨肉腫は報告されていないので本症例が本邦第1例である。

　A man, aged 68, complaining of a swelling of the left side of his neck was first seen in the surgical department. With a suspicion of a thyroid cancer the patient was operated upon. The swelling, however, was found to be due a chondroma of laryngeal cartilage; the patient was referred to the ENT department.

　X-ray examination revealed subglottal narrowing but repeated laboratory tests showed only the presence of inflammatory granulations. The patient was placed under observation for the period of two years when a complete loss of voice and increased subglottal stenosis developed. A total laryngectomy was performed. Postoperative tissue diagnosis is reported a chondrosarcoma of the laryngeal cartilage.
