  • Look Inside

A case, 47-year-old housewife, complained of lightning pain at her left submandibular region extending to her left ear. Abnormal findings were negative either in the neurological examination or in the head and neck X-ray examination. The presence of tic douloureux and the trigger zone made the authors diagnose this case with essential glossopharyngeal neuralgia. The glossopharyngeal nerve was cut by the cervical operation. Postoperatively the attacks of pain disappeared completely, and there were no complications. Eight months passed without any relapse. This case was reported with the referential literature.
