  • Look Inside

A clinical study on vertigo and loss of equilibrium was made in 75 patients with the view of correlating subjective symptoms with objective findings among these patients.

Patients' complaints were divided into 7 clinical types.

Neurological findings were more in accord with the cases who complained of the loss of equilibrium than those of vertigo.

Five typical cases, consisting of Menier's disease, vertebral artery insufficiency, medulloblastoma of vermis, acoustic neurinoma and ocular nystagmus due to head trauma, were selected out the 75 and discussed.

In the vertigo type the causative factor appeared to be mainly due to labyrinthine disorder while a few cases to vertebral artery insufficiency.
