　Ⅰ．緒言

　日常臨床において広く感音性難聴とされているものには種々の疾患が含まれている。そのような感音性難聴のうち，どのような疾患で聴力がどのように推移するかはきわめて興味深い問題でありそれを知る臨床的意義も大きいと思われる。

　しかるに，従来の文献を回顧してみても，この方面の研究はきわめて少ない。そこで，今回は最近約5年間に東大耳鼻咽喉科難聴外来を訪れた感音性難聴患者のうち，ある期間経過を観察しえた447耳についてその聴力の変動を検討し，各種疾患と聴力変動との間の関係を検索してみた。その結果二，三の知見をえたので若干の考察を加えて報告する。

　Observations are made in 447 ears on the long term variations in the threshold of perceptive deafness.

　According to the kinds of deafness there seemed characteristic types of variation. A remarkable shift to recovery was shown in cases of sudden deafness, Meniere's disease, acute acoustic trauma and acute toxic deafness. But little changes were found in cases of perceptive deafness due to head trauma and of unknown causes particularly for low tones. On the other hand some progression of hearing loss was observed in familial deafness and deafness due to antibiotic toxicity.
