頸動脈毬腫瘍の1症例

A CASE OF CAROTID BODY TUMOR

　Ⅰ．緒言

　頸動脈毬腫瘍は，Struma der Carotisdrüseとして1880年Reignerによつて記載されているが，詳細には1891年Marchandが報告したのをもつて最初の文献とする。以来，文献上では欧米においては約300余例が報告されているが，本邦においては比較的稀で，1924年阿部がその第1例を報告して以来，僅かに24例の報告をみるに過ぎない。本腫瘍は，時に悪性変化を示す事もあるがその大部分は良性のものとざれているにも拘らず臨床的にはその発生部位的関係よりして腫瘍の全摘出が困難であり，且つ放射線療法並びにその他の非観血的治療法が無効である事から，不幸の転帰をとる症例も多い。我々は，最近本腫瘍と思われる1例を経験したので，茲にその大要を報告し合せて本腫瘍に関する文献的考察を加えた。

A case of carotid body tumor is reported. The patie ntwas a woman, aged 43, who com-plained of swelling on the left side of the neck that gradually grew in size for the last 5 years. Examination showed a swelling the size of infant's folded fist. A surgical removal of the growth was attempted but due to its close adherence to the carotid artery at the bifurcation a complete removal was unsucce-ssful. A microscopic examination showed the growth to be an ordinary carotid body.
