局所麻酔剤スミカインの使用経験

THE USE OF SMYCAIN AS A LOCAL ANESTHETIC

　緒言

　近時，麻酔学の目覚ましい発展に伴い，従来は局所麻酔下で行われていた，扁桃全摘出術をはじめとする耳鼻咽喉科領域のいろいろな手術に対しても，全身麻酔法が次第に利用されるようになつて来た。確かに，ショック死の統計からみても，特に耳鼻咽喉科領域では十分な管理の下で行う全身麻酔法が，手術をする側にとつても，される側にとつても理想的であることは論をまたないが，一般医家の場合にはまだまだ局所麻酔法の利点を応用して，これにたよらざるを得ないのが偽らざる現状であろう。

　これとは別に，耳鼻咽喉科領域では一般外来診療分野の大部分が，敏感な粘膜であると云う特殊性に鑑みても，表面麻酔剤の使用頻度は非常に高く，この意味でも局所麻酔剤のもつ意義は極めて重大である。

A local anesthetic agent Smycain m-(2-diethylaminoethoxy) benzoic acid ethyl ester HCl was tested by its use in anesthesia of nasal turbinates, septal mucous membrane and tonsillectomies. This agent may be em-ployed topically 4% solution or by infiltration 1%.

Compared to other local anethesias such as Lydocain and procain Smycain appeared to be faster in action, langer effective and less irritating to the focal tissues.
