嗅覚の臨床的観察（嗅覚計の試作）

　緒言

　嗅覚の測定にはZwardmaker，Reuter，Ersberg等により考案された各種の嗅覚計が用いられている。

　嗅覚の測定に当つて重要な事は，（1）常に一定の測定値が得られ，最も容易に臨床に使用されるものでなければならない。（2）嗅素の定性的検査も定量的検査も兼ね備えたものがよい。（3）自然の呼吸即ち所謂鼻内気流に一致して嗅素が鼻腔内に送りこまれる装置がのぞましい。（4）使用する嗅素は嗅覚の測定に当つては，Pure olfactory with no trigeminal Componentのもので容易に一定の濃度が得られる様にしなければならない。Ersbergの嗅覚計は一定量の嗅素を一定量の空気と共に僅かの圧で鼻腔内に送り，その嗅素の最少量を求め嗅覚を判定する方法で，上記の条件を比較的兼ね備えたものであるが，吾々は更に上記（3）の条件をも満足させる様な嗅覚計を考案試作し，臨床上に応用したのでその成績をのべ御批判を乞う次第である。

　By devising an instrument by which the time consumed from the instant an ordorous material is introduced into the nose to that the sense of smell evoked by it may be measured, patients affected with smell disturbances due to various reasons were examined.

　(1) With persons whose nasal cavity was normal the time was 7 seconds males and females alike.

　(2) This time was found to be generally lengthened among persons who were found to be affected with deviated nasal septum and hypertrophic turbinates.

　(3) No constant results were obtained among patients affected with paranasal sinusitis.

　(4) The question of blood borne sense of smell like that that may evoked by intravenous injection of arinamin is discussed.
