A study is made to investigate the extent-to which middle ear pneumatization among children may have influence over the capacity of hearing. For material of this study 60 pupils, the third graders, are selected at random; 51 A audiometer is used in sound-proof room for threshold hearing in air and bone-conduction. The status of pneumatization in each case is observed by use of Schuller's slanting X-ray pictures. The results are as follows:

 (1) Under normal conditions the hearing by air conduction among children fall 4~8 db below that of the adult:by bone conduction no difference in the two groups are noted. In some cases the test by latter means turned out to be slightly better among children.

 (2) As a rule among children hearing by air conduction appeared to be the better when pneumatization was found to be advanced and by bone conduction to be exceeded when that process be retarded but, the difference as measured by decibel hearing between the two appeared to be only slight in amount.
