HORIGUCHI and MIURA report their ob-servations on 90 cases of maxillary sinusitis that are dental in origin which represented about 4-6 percent of the total number sinu-sitis seen. The disease is recognized in younger adults in their 20s whose complaint is malodorous nasal discharge. The causa-tive tooth is generally the first molar which when extracted will often reveal a passage of continuity from the socket into the sinus cavity whence the discharge may be seen to beexuding. Cases of this nature that show chonicity would not only show a good response to operative treatment but short of which rarely recover; in acute cases recovery may be attained by more conservative methods.Percentages of complete recovery following operative treatment are greater here than co-mpared to sinusitis of various other causes.
