YAMANOBE and associates, for treatment of tinnitus aurium, tried administration of ammonium chloride (3-4 gms per day, divided into 3 equal doses) by mouth and, tetraethyl-ammoniumbromide (1-2 amp. per day) by sucutaneous injections. Results with the former were found to be somewhat favorable but, with the latter, ineffective. They believe that ammonium chloride reacts as stimulant to cardiovascular center and that, it also posesses a property, like curare, mildly anes-thetic; by chemical changes into that of a idity within the system, it renders other tissues thereby, to become less hygroscopic. This agent is not toxic, may be given by mouth and continuously.
