Naganuma and Tosabayashi say that by parenteral use of Schwartzman's "reticulone" an extract of reticuloendothelial tissues, the course of recovery of acute otitis media and of chronic otorhea has been considerably shortened. To be effective the therapeutic agent must be used continuously and in large quantities. Staphylococcus was found the most susceptible to its influence, while streptococcus and pneumococcus followed in their order. The action of "reticulone" in the soma is maintained as that of supplementing and aiding phagocytic activities of leucocytes.
