Murakami agrees in accordance to the view held by Professor Goto in his recent article that Principle of Practice of Medicine, even in terms of Oriental concept, should be considered as an attainment of highest form of Art; and Clincal Medicine the combined acpuirement of this art plus scientific achievements. In order to reduce probabilities or reoperation in mastoidectomies, where such failures are large, to a possible po-int of zero, higher attainment of technical skill and deeper concept for appreciation of art arer-equired of the operator. These thoughts have been fully discussed in author's previous article entitled, "Primary closure of post-mastoidecto-my wound". Since the advent of antibiotics in the aramentarium of therapy it appeared as tho ugh operative treatments for otitis media were no longer justifiable, yet, with failure of these agents in establishing cure in some cases, as in "masked torm" of the disease, science and art of the highest order is called upon to save the patient's life.
