  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

The plasma catecholamine concentrations have gen-erally been accepted as an index of sympathetic ner-vous activity in cardiovascular and neurologic dis-orders. Intracranial vessels are innervated by sympa-thetic nerve fibers. It is known that the plasmanorepinephrine (NE) level is related to the sympa-thetic activity. Consequently, it is expected that thechanges in sympathetic nervous function are accom-panied by the release of NE at the sympathetic nerveterminals.
