  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

The distribution of nerve fibers in the cerebralblood vessels was studied by a catecholamine histo-fluorescence method, acetylcholinesterase (AChE)staining and immunohistochemistry. The ultrastru-cture of the terminal boutons in the vessel wall wasalso studied. In the adventitia of the cerebral artery, green fluorescence aminergic fibers and brownishAChE-positive (probably cholinergic) fibers wereobserved. In contrast, the cerebral venous systemshowed no AChE-positive fibers. The highest densityof aminergic fibers were found in the dural sinus andthe second highest in the internal cerebral vein.
