  • Look Inside

Several cases of spontaneous hematoma formationoccurred under the Silastic dural substitute werereported with CT-scan and recraniotomy findings.

In overall analysis, an incidence of thespontaneoushematoma formation was 35.1% in cases of artificialdural grafting with Silastic sheeting and none withautogenous temporal fascia.

On CT-scan the hematoma showed localized highdensity area severely convex toward underlyingbrain. At recraniotomy, the hematoma consisted of massiveclot presented locally beneath the dural substitute.
