Preoperative Irradiation of an Extracerebral Cavernous Hemangioma in the Middle Fossa:Follow-up study with computed tomography

I．緒言

　頭蓋内で脳実質外の海綿状血管腫は，脳内に発生したものと異なり，その著しい出血のため全摘が困難である．著者らは最近，右中頭蓋窩を満たす巨大な海綿状血管腫の1症例において，部分摘出後，放射線照射を行ったところ，腫瘍は著明に縮小し，2回目の手術では出血が少なく，ほぼ全摘することができたので報告する．

This is a report of case with the extracerebral cavernous hemangioma in the middle fossa in which total removal was carried out after radiotherapy. Follow-up study with computed tomography during and after irradiation are presented.

A 44-year-old house-wife complained of a decreased vision of the both eyes and paresis of the left upper and lower limbs. CT scan revealed a slightly high density area in the right middle cranial fossa which was markedly enhanced with contrast media (Fig. 1a).
