  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

Primary pontine hemorrhage in children is said to be very rare. The patient was a 14-year-old right-handed girl who was admitted with a 2-day history of left facial palsy, numbness and weakness of the right side of the body. These signs had appeared gradually. On admission, the general examination and vital signs were normal.

The patient was slightly drowsy but cooperative. Her speech was markedly dysarthric. The examination of the extraocular movement revealed left abducens palsy and left lateral gaze palsy. There was paresis of the left facial muscle of peripheral type. Hearing was greatly decreased in the left ear.
