  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

Skeletal scintigraphy employing the new 99mTc-labelled compounds-99mTc-diphosphonate and 99mTc-polypho-sphate-has proved to be a reliable technique for the detection of primary and metastatic tumors as well as nonneoplastic conditions of the skeletal system including the skull and spine. Recent experiences in 26 consecutive neurosurgical patients are reported.

The bone scintigraphy seems to be most valuable in the clinical management of patients suspected of harboring metastatic deposit in the nervous system.
