  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

Recent studies have indicated that prolongation of reaction time (RT) in patients with Parkinson's disease was related to clinical signs and/or their degrees of disability. For instance, bilateral prolongation of RTs was definite in patients with positive signs of the left side of the body, and asymmetry of neurological signs between the left and the right side reflected on the asymmetry of RTs between the both sides. The prolongation of RTs in parkinsonian patients would be due tofunctional disorders in the two functional loops of the basal ganglia related to the motor behavior, the complex and the motor loop (DeLong and Georgopoulos, 1981).
