Physiotherapy of cerebellar ataxia

　小脳障害によって出現する臨床症状は，Holmes^6）によって症候論的に記載されて以来，出現機構や症状解析などが追求されてきた。Holmesは小脳障害の症状を次の四つに分けた。①筋緊張低下，②筋無力・易疲労性，③随意運動の度合・規則性・力の異常，④連合運動の欠陥。そして筋無力と易疲労性は，筋緊張低下の状態に起因する可能性があると考え，小脳障害による症状を，大きく筋緊張低下と随意運動障害に分けた。

　小脳障害に対するphysiotherapyの目的は運動障害の治療であり，そのため小脳性運動障害を筋緊張異常と随意運動異常の両面からとらえる必要がある。

Abstract

Disorders of some voluntary motions in patients with cerebellar dysfunctions were analysed kine-siologically. Kinematic aspects of the disorders were as follows: irregular oscillatory movements of body and/or limbs during a task-performance: a lack of postural fixation or stability; the timing of a shift of movement-patterns was mostly delayed during the performance of compound motions; and unusually wide or small range of motion of a joint happened in the motion whichwas accomplished with the simultaneous action of more than two joints.
