神経筋疾患とNMR

Nuclear magnetic resonance studies in neuromuscular systems.

はじめに

　NMRの生物・医学への応用は，近年急速な発展をとげようとしている。神経内科学の分野においても種々の病態において，この新しい方法論による成果があげられつつある^62）。本稿ではNMRを医学・生物系に応用するときの問題点と，筋肉疾患の診断と治療の分野でNMRが果たしつつある役割について概説したい。

　Recent progress in the application of NMR to the study of neuromuscular disease was reviewed.

　NMR spectroscopy has made possible the non-invasive investigation of the metabolism of skeletal muscle. Various information on the composition of pathological tissue can be obtained from ¹H and ¹³C NMR spectra. Energy exchange can be followed by measurement of ³¹P NMR spectra. It is used to study changes in intermediary metabolites of skeletal muscle during exercise and relaxation, and the clinical value is illustrated in the patients with defective muscle glycolysis, mitochondrial myopathy and other various neuromuscular disease who otherwise have required multiple biopsies of muscle.
