運動ニューロン疾患のモデル動物

Animal models of motor neuron diseases

I．序

　ヒトの運動ニューロン疾患における中枢神経，末梢神経および骨格筋における病変の発現機序については，いまだ不明な点が多いが，適切な疾患モデル動物を用いることにより，疾病の成立ちの解明に迫ることが期待されている。本稿では，これまでに報告されている運動ニューロン疾患のモデル動物を総覧し（表1），とくにウォブラーマウスについては，運動ニューロン疾患における脊髄前角運動神経細胞の病変発現の機序について，少し詳しく述べてみたい。

Abstract

Animal models of motor neuron diseases (MND) were reviewed. Till now, mice, dogs, pigs, mon-keys, cats, zebras and rabbits suffered from MND have been known. Heredity, toxins (exogenous and endogenous), viral agents, neoplasia and others were strongly suggested as causative factors of MND in these animals. Wobbler mice were clinically similar to human infantile spinal mus-cular atrophy, and pathologically showed vacuolar degeneration of nerve cells in spinal anterior horn and brain stem. So wobbler mice were thought to be very useful for the study of MND with heredity.
