Abstract

The lateral line organs and the acoustic and vestibular sensory organs in the inner ear are generally called an acoustico-lateralis system. They have different physiological functions asbeing receptors for disturbance of the external fluid, sound, gravity and acceleration, however, they have basically the similar structure. The sensory cells of these organs have the sensory hairs on their apical surface. The principle of their detector mechanisms is the same, the detec-tion of the displacement of the sensory hairs.
