 Lateral-line organs of aquatic animals are homologous to the mammalian inner ear, especially in the receptive mechanism of the hair cells. Data appeared here was the results obtained on the lateral-line organs of tadpole, and they are summarized as follows.

  (i) In the lateral-line organs of the tadpole of Rana catesbeiana, the order of effectiveness of nomovalent cation was

 Ag+≫T1+>Na+K+Li+

 and the order of divalent cations was

 Sr2+≧Mg2+≧Ba2+>Ca2+>Cd2+≧ Co2+≧Mn2+>Zn2+

  (ii) The stimulating effect of the nomovalent cation was suppressed by civalent cations.
