Abstract

The present paper reviewed the recent physio-logical studies of cutaneous receptors on the following points; (1) stimulus-response transfor-mation mechanisms in mechanoreceptors such as a Pacinian corpuscle in cats and a stretch receptor in crustacea, and (2) response characteristics to stepwise and sinusoidal forms of stimuli in various sensory units innervating mammalian skin, and (3) reinnervation of cutaneous nerves and their trophic effects on receptors in mammals and leeches.
