 Recent progress in biophysical, biochemical, and ultrastructural techniques has altered the concept of descriptive retinal layers into that of a functional organization which can be regarded as of three cell groups playing an important role respectively; 1. photoreceptor cells which receive the photic stimulation and produce the neuronal impulses by means of membranous depolarization triggered by the conformational alteration of the visual pigment molecules;
