言語学は失語症にどう寄与しうるか

Can linguistics contribute to aphasiology?

I．はじめに

　失語症研究の歴史を振り返るまでもなく，失語症の言語学的側面の研究は，神経解剖学的または心理学的側面の研究に比べて，はるかに遅れて登場した領域といえよう。

　とはいうものの，失語症が言語表象の操作機能の障害である以上，この障害の実態を把握するうえに言語学的方法論を持ち込むことの必要性は自明であり，事実，今世紀の初頭（1913年）に発表されたPickの失文法に関する論文^26）を先駆けとして，その後も失語症の言語学的側面を主題とした論文が散発的に現れてきた。特に，1940〜60年代には近代言語学の巨匠Jakobsonが，言語学者自身の立場から，失語症患者の言語崩壊過程にみられる規則性に着目し，類同性障害similarity disorderと近接性障害contiguity disorderという二分法^16）に基づく，洞察に富んだ失語症論を展開した。

To illustrate possible roles of linguistic principles in the study of aphasia, some examples of the application of linguistic methodology to the investigation of aphasic disorders, e.g., impair-ments related to the phonological, syntactic, and lexicalsemantic components, are presented.

The results from these studies appear to indicate: (1) Application of linguistic concepts and methodology discloses orderly patterns of aphasic impairment that reflect the inherent structure of language at various levels and in different compo-nents.
