  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

In the study of cytodifferentiation in heterogeneous cell populations, such as nervous tissue, it is clear that culture techniques provide an indispensable tool for precise analysis. Neurons under suitable conditions in vivo and in vitro tend to adhere to glia cells, giving rise to a histoformation. In development, glia cells play roles in neuronal migration, axonal guidance, myelination, and possibly, synaptic selection in vivo. With the advent of studies regarding the neuronal and glial cell-lines, new and better opportunities have been provided to investigate glia specific properties and neuron-glia relation.
