Ⅰ．Adie症候群の歴史的背景

　緊張性瞳孔反応および良性腱反射消失を主徴とするAdie症候群は1931,1932年のAdieの原著^1,2）に由来するが，それ以前にも，これらの現象はすでに若干の報告をみるので，その経緯を文献的にまず回顧する。

　Riddell^3）やLowenstein^4）らの解説によれば，この現象の最初の記載はJames Ware^5）によるもので，それはすでに1812年に遡るという。しかし学界において議論の爼上に載せられ始めたのは，ずっと後年の1902年，たまたま，時を同じくして同じ雑誌に発表されたSaenger^6）およびStrasburger^7）の"myotonische Pupillenwebegung"に関する論文である。彼らは輻輳時に起こった縮瞳が，輻輳の弛緩に伴いきわめて徐々に散瞳していく現象を報告している。その後，数多くの追加報告が行なわれたが，中でもNonne（1902）^8）やMarkus（1906）^9）さらにはWeilとRegs（1926）^10）によって，膝蓋あるいはアキレス腱反射の欠如を伴った緊張性の瞳孔現象が報告されている。

　The reports on the tonic pupil with or without absent deep tendon reflex, which was made prior to Adie's description were succinctly reviewed. The ordinal description of this syndrome has been made by many authors much earlier than the time when Adie reported the cases in 1931. In our paper, the word of Adie's syndrome expresses its complete form only, i.e. the tonic pupil with areflexia. The pupillary anomaly without areflexia is expressed as the tonic pupil.
