Comparision between the cerebellar signs of organic mercury poisoning and those of other neurological disorders

　有機水銀中毒の歴史は非常に古いが，その激しい中毒症状が全世界に注目されたのは水俣病以来である。水俣病が公害というものの本態を教えるとともに人類の食品汚染が調査され，チェックされるようになったことの意義はきわめて大きいといわねばならない。

　有機水銀のうちでもアルキル水銀，ことにメチル，エチル水銀は神経系に強い親和性を持ったものであることが明らかになっている。

To observe the characteristic features of cere-bellar signs in the patients with organic mercury poisoning, the cerebellar signs of Minamata dis-ease, methyl mercury poisoning, were compared with those of olivo-ponto-cerebellar atrophy, Marie's ataxia and Shy-Drager syndrome. Number of the case observed were 34, 13, 6 and 4 res-pectively.

The following clinical features were seemed to be characteristic in organic mercury poisoning.
