  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

Schizophrenia is a common disease with a life-time prevalence of approximately one-percent. Although there is compelling evidence of an important genetic contribution to schizophrenia, the etiology remains uncertain. Stimulated by the recent advances of molecular genetics in basic science, molecular genetic study in schizophrenia has been activated in the last decade. However, no convincing results have been emerged, though thousands of research including linkage and association study on schizophrenia has been conducted. Thus, schizophrenia becomes a graveyard for molecular geneticists. Consequently, researchers become pessimistic.
