  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

Epileptic seizures and syndromes undergo dramatic changes with development. In the neonatal period and early infancy, partial epilepsies are more frequent than generalized epilepsies, and symptomatic epilepsies more common than idiopathic ones. Epileptic syndromes of the newborn undergo evolutionary changes with development. Age-dependent epileptic encephalopathy is a term to describe a disorder with changes from Ohtahara syndrome through West syndrome to Lennox-Gastaut syndrome, but other evolutionary changes were also present.
