大脳高次機能へのアプローチ―ヒトの研究から

An approach to higher brain functions: from human studies

はじめに

　最近Tranelら（1995）^1）によって，臨床症例の検討から推測される顔認知の脳内機構を示すモデルが提示された（図1）。従来顔認知は，相貌失認の検討などから，視覚性認知障害の一つとして後頭側頭葉の視覚領域の役割が重視されてきた。ところが，この図では，後頭側頭葉の視覚領域のみならず，前頭葉さらには扁桃体などの辺縁系までが顔認知に関係するとされている。このモデルに代表されるように，最近，ヒトの大脳高次機能の捉え方が急激に変化しつつある。

　本稿では，ヒトの大脳高次機能研究の現状を整理し，今後の展望についての私見を述べる。

The trend in the way of understanding higher brain functions has been changing rapidly. This article provides an overview of recent relevant works as well as the author's own viewpoint, characterizing their methodologies through four key concepts ; the interconnection of different functional localizations, the introduction of psychology, the symptomatology of subconsciousness, and the discovery of localiza-tions which, though seemingly old-fashioned, the author argue to be still effective.
