Approaches to higher cerebral functions through animal experimentation

I．はじめに―大脳高次機能とは何か

　手がかりとして高次神経機能に関する佐々木の図式を図1に示す^23）。ここには主観的過程が脳の物質的（客観的）過程と対応したものとして破線の上下に表示されている。

　この二つの過程がそれぞれ独立の実在かという哲学的な議論とは関わりなく，神経科学者はこの「心脳」図式を実験的アプローチに利用し，主観的過程を取り込んだ客観的実験を計画し実行して，高次大脳機能に関する多くの成果を挙げている。

The strategy of animal studies on the higher cerebral functions was surveyed from the fundamental, comparative, and parallel aspects by referring to some specimen experiments. The fundamental studies have revealed the molecular and cellular basis of learning and memory by exploring the interaction of “nature and nurture” underlying various behavioral expressions.
