Three types of attention are explained in this review ; visual spatial attention, somatosensory attention, and cross modal attention between the visual and somatosensory modality. First, temporal and spatial aspects of visual attention are revealed by studies using the so-called “illusory line motion” : if an observer's attention is directed, for example, to the right and a line is presented in the center, the line is perceived to be drawn from the right to the left, although the line is drawn instantane-ously.
