  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

Programmed cell death (apoptosis) is a process by which cells carry out their own execution by activating an orderly set of genetic program. In the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans, a genetic pathway of programmed cell death has been identified. In this pathway, the function of two genes, ced-3 and ced-4, are required for cells to undergo all programmed cell death.
