Sex has two aspects;biological sex and gender identity to his/her sex. Gender identity disorder(GID)comes from mismatch between biological sex and gender identity. Although underlying mechanism to produce GID is still uncertain, possible explanation is as follows; The gap may come from the different brain sexuality from biological sex. Different brain sexuality will develop by exposure to different sex hormone during embryonic period, fetus and also early stage of infant.

In this article, GID symptoms were reviewed and possible mechanisms which produce GID were discussed.
