  • Look Inside

Incidentall detected renal tumors appeared to be increased in recent years. Between 1980 and 1991, in 137renal cell carcinoma patients treated at Nagoya Univerity Hospital, 43 (31%) were asymptomatic and foundincidentally, including 24(17%) routine physical checkups and 19 (14%) during examinations for diseasesother than renal cell carcinoma. These 43 cases were clinically and pathologically compared with theremaining 94 patients demonstrating symptoms typically associated with renal cell carcinomas. Microscopic-hematuria was found in 4(9%) of the 43 without symptoms and in 47 (50%) of the 94 with symptoms.
