A 60-year-old man was presented with complaints of flank pain and microhematuria. Plain x-ray film showed a small calcification in the pelvic cavity. Upon admission his blood chemistry was as follow: Sodium, 132 mEq/L; potassium, 4.9 mEa/L; chloride, 99 mEq/L: nonprotein nitrogen, 37 mg/dl; creatinine, 4.2 mg/dl; total protein, 9.0 gr/dl; hematocrit, 4.8%. On the third hospital day he had a rapid and progressive abdominal enlargement which appearently was caused by fluid. But edema was not seen in the lower extremities.
