  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

Thle conventional transurethral sphincter ringed metal electrode produces electrical noise because of the shift. We found that carbon fiber felt (CFF) used as the electrode reduced the noise. The CFF used as electrodes was a premanufactured product consisting of fiber with a diameter of 7 μ and a resistance ratio of 1-3 × 10-3 Ωcm. It is made by carbonizing rayon fiber and is gathered to 2 mm thickness, cut into a 5-mm-wide tape and fixed around the Foley catheter 15 mm apart. Rayon-based CFF used for electrodes is soft and never pricks the urethral epithelium.
