　人の腎動脈の解剖学的研究は腎区域動脈の提唱される以前，古くから世界各国において多数の報告があり，わが国でも久保（1907），飯島（1925），安達（1925），山村（1928），足立（1928），井上（1932），宮内（1933），鈴木（1937），星合（1939），内野（1950），鰺坂（1952）らの報告がある。

　Graves F．T．（1954）が腎区域Segmenta renaliaおよび腎区域動脈Renal segmental arteriesの論文を発表して以来今日に至る18年間に20有余の報告が続出しているが，わが国では僅かに小田島の発表があるのみで，未だ多数例についての統計的調査はまつたく見当らない状態である。

Celluloid-acetone casts were made from 160 normal Japanese kidneys and the following results were obtained by investigating the renal segmental arteries and comparing them with the results obtained by Graves and Fine & Kean.

1) 85% of the Japanese renal artery were single, which showed a lower percentage compared to the previous authers.

2) The branching of renal artery from abdominal aorta showedthat the right being higher than the left in 56.5%, the left being higher than the right in 18.7% and both branching at the same height in 24.7%.
