  • Look Inside

Cerebral arteries of a 52-year-old man who died of cerebral hemorrhage was studied by methacrylate casts of arterial tree.

During the dissolution of the brain tissue a large hematcma was seen in the right front-parietal re-gion. Right lateral striate arteries were remakably shifted medially and some of the branches formed small resin balls at their peripheral end. These res-in balls might have some relation to intracerebral hematoma.

In the vertebro-basilar system, it was observed that (1) the upper part of the basilar artery was tortuous, (2) the paramedian branches ran caudally in the lower pons, (3) bilateral posterior cerebral arteries were flattend at the part of tentorial notch. These findings might be a result of the expansive supratentorial lesion, and suggest circulatory distur-bance in the lower part of the midbrain and in the upper pons.
