The distibution and their resistance to various drugs, of the 1,115 strains of gram negative rods isolated from urine with urinary tract infection, which were collected from 38 clinics all over Japan, were investigated and the following results were obtained.

1) Among the isolated strains, 47.5% was E. coli, 13.5% was Proteus, 13.2% was Klebsiella, 9.5 % was Pesudomonas aeruginosa, 5.6% was Enterobacter, 3.7% was Citrobacter, 2.2% was both Mor-ganella and Rettgerella, 0.6% was Providencia, 0.2% was Hafnia, 0.1% were Serratia, while 3. 9% were other gram negative bacili.
