　近年，産業の振興に伴いいわゆる公害を含めて種々の産業災害が発生し，われわれ皮膚科医もまたこの問題に無関心ではいらねない．最近，著者らは加熱融解した塩化バリウムによる熱傷をうけ，おそらくその経皮吸収によると思われる多彩な急性中毒症状を示し，急速に心麻痺に陥り，一旦は蘇生しえたが，第6病日に至り遂に死亡した症例を経験した．以下にその特異な経過と文献的考察を述べる．

A 19-year-old man with thermal burn due to melted hot Barium chloride showed severe vomiting, diarrhea, paralysis of extremities, hypertension, arythmia, oliguria and died on 6th clay after hospitalized.

Proteinuria and increased urine and serum creatine level were showed. Internal creati nine clearance was decreased (595.5 dl/day).

Six hundred and sixty PPM of Barium chloride was detected in serum.

Histologic examination of autopsy specimens showed acute swelling of epilhelium of renal tubes, vacuolar degeneration of liver cells and increased eosinophils in spleen.
