  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

Venous system was mainly affected in the vascular changes of erythema nodosum and erythe-ma induratum. One of the characteristic manifestations of erythema induratum was capillary endothelial proliferation besides the known characteristics of this disease.

So-called intermediate type between erythema nodosum and erythema induratum was mainly erythema induratum. Main histologic picture in some of the intermediate form was thrombo-phlebitis, and the author suggested that this form might be called vasculitis nodularis, differing from nodular vasculitis (Montgomery). Experimental production of the vascular Arthus reaction suggested a possibility of existence of an allergic process in the vasculitis, while there might exist a possibility of a nonspecific inflammatory process of the Schwartzman type.
