両側ムンプス難聴の1症例

A Case of Bilateral Deafness due to Mumps

　はじめに

　ムンプス難聴は，ムンプス罹患患者の約0.002〜0.08％に発生する^1〜3）。一側性であることが多いが，両側性に発症する症例も報告されている^4〜6）。発症した難聴は，一般に高度感音難聴もしくは聾になり，予後は不良である。さらに，両側高度感音難聴を引き起こした場合は，社会生活上問題は深刻である。

　今回われわれは，ステロイド，ビタミン製剤などの投与により改善を認めた，両側性ムンプス難聴の1症例を経験したので報告する。

A 18-year-old female complained of bilateral parotid swelling and bilateral hearing loss. Severebilateral high tone hearing loss was noted. Not only pure tone hearing loss, but speech discrimination were improved bilaterally after treatment. It is believed that deafness due to mumps rarely improves. However, it is better to give careful treat-ment for mumps deafness, particularly at the acute phase.
