Quality of Life (QOL) Check List of Patients with Head and Neck Cancer

　はじめに

　Quality of life （以後，QOLと略）は「生命の質」，「生活の質」，「生きることの質」など，日本語に訳されるが，きわめて抽象的な概念であるため，そのまま原語のQOLが使われることが多い^1）。

　がん患者のQOLを合理的に正確に評価することは，疾患によって生ずる身体的苦痛を緩和することに役立つだけでなく，心理的・社会的苦痛の緩和にも有効である。

We designed a QOL check list for patients with head and neck cancer in order to evaluate their QOL. This QOL, check list was useful to evaluate the chemotherapy effect. Furthermore, it was alsouseful to take care the patients with malignant lymphoma. The evaluations of QOL. are not only to improve the cure rate and survival rate, but for paying attention to a holistic treatment and care. It seemed to be very important that QOL, con-ception was applied to cancer treatment and care.
