In otolaryngology field, it is common for HIV infection to develop without lesions on skin or genitalia but with characteristic oral and pharyngeal lesions and symptoms which result in its diagnosis. A 33-year-old man visited our department with pharyngalgia and pyrexia. As the findings consistent with oral candidiasis HIV infection was suspected, and early diagnosis was made. Some patients may hesitate early consultation, so early and certain diagnosis are important. When relapsed and refractory oral/pharyngeal lesions are noted in men in ago of 20s to 30s, we should consider HIV infection.
