This is the third and last case report published on June 15, Gaz. méd. série3 16:379-380, 1861. Menière published three case reports in about eight months from January 8 to September 21, 1861. The three case reports in succession might give an impression that as if Menière had known the short period given to him, and this gave rise to the seemingly hasty and devoted serial case reports(von Tröltsch, 1868). In the third report, Menière again refers to Trousseau's lecture on January 15 at the meeting of Academy throwing some doubt on the cases which Trousseau presented. Menière demanded in expectation that Trousseau responds to the heated discussions about the lecture. In the third report, three typical cases are reported. He again warns the practitioners to refrain from hasty treatments to patients with symptoms seemingly at first resulting from the so-called cerebral congestion. If they ask the patients what they felt about the ears before the advents of so-called cerebral accidents, and the practioners check the levels of hearing, the diagnosis of the lesions of the inner ear will be readily available. As to the prognosis of grave hearing loss, Menière contended that time alone will remedy so grave an illness(Le temps seul remédiera a cette maladie si grave.), and recommended the expectative therapy.
