This is the second case report published on April, 13, in Gaz. méd. série 3 16:239-240, 1861. This report contains four casese of which two are Menière's own cases and one case is the record obtained by an affected physician himself. The second report is similar in presenting the typical cases to reconfirm Menière's idea about the origin of the lesions in the inner ear. But the report asked Trousseau to come down from the height of L'Hôtel-Dieu where Trousseau was the chief and proffesor. Trousseau presented a lecture entitled「Apoplectic cerebral congestion and its relation to epilepsy.」at the Akademy on January 9, Gaz. méd série 3 16:51-52, 1861. Menière later made a report with much criticism on January 26, Gaz. méd. série 3 16:55-57, 1861.(This will be interpreted and translated in Part seven of this series.)Menière insists that Trousseau should come down and join the issue leaving the compiled criticism. Menière defended that the lesions in the inner ear had nothing to do with epilepsy so ever. Menière mentioned that in the large institutions where a great number of epilectecs were admitted, a very small number of them might show hearinglosses, but these should take account of epilectics with intellectual weakening, faulty attention, and hebetude of various senses which could not escape the attentive observers.
